By Vehicle  Check Google Maps once you arrive at Habarana this will give you the best route.  The roads are bad on the other routes.

From Colombo via Ambepussa, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, Palugaswewa, Galkadawala. 

 

From Airport/Negombo, via Giriulla, Kurunegala, Dambulla, Habarana, Palugaswewa, Galkadawala.

Either route will take approx 4 – 5 hours.

At Habarana Town roundabout take the road to Palugaswewa/Anuradhapura and, proceed 6km to arrive at Palugaswewa row of shops. Take the road to the left to the Galkadawala village, proceed 4½ km turn left to Wewa Paara (Lane), proceed 300 metres arrive at Galkdawala Forest Lodge. This will take approx 10 minutes. 

 

Transport from the Airport or Negombo to Galkadawala can be arranged.

We can arrange a car or van to pick you up from or drop you at  most of the main towns / cities. The cost of the hire will vary.

To/From Trincomallee or Batticaloa taking a bus would be faster than the train.  It takes 1.5 hours from Trincomalee and 2.5 hours from Batticaloa to Habarana. From Habarana to Galkadawala take a tuktuk.  It is a 10 minute ride. From Kandy to Habarana will take 2.5 hours by bus.

By train

From the Colombo Fort Railway station, the Batticaloa/Trincomalee Train which leaves daily at 6.05am a.m. will arrive at PALUGASWEWA Railway Station at 11.00 a.m. A tuk tuk will bring you to Galkadawala Forest Lodge which is only 3km away. If you keep us informed in advance a tuk tuk can be arranged to pick you up at the railway station.

The Train from Batticaloa/Trincomalee on it’s way to Colombo stops at PALUGASWEWA  Railway station at 9.30 a.m. daily. A tuk tuk may be taken, as above.

There are a number of domestic air services. Please check the internet for details. You can fly to Sigiriya by a Light Airplane or Helicopter.
